Food. Fun. Fireworks.

We had a great time this last weekend enjoying Independence Day with our Family, Friends, and Neighbors.

We started with some eating. Lots of eating. Scott did a lot of grilling.

The kids mixed it up with some bounce house jumping.

And there were also some squirt gun shenanigans as demonstrated here by Adrian.

Jonie painted awesome designs that mesmerized the children.
Trevor cried so sadly when I washed his off that night... "But Jonie painted my ... ... (Gasping and fading voice followed by CROCODILE TEARS!!!)"
I have several pictures of friends (see them all here). I really like how the Gerber's picture turned out...

....after I adjusted the lighting and time period for Don who insisted on the sober 1890's party pose.

The dunk tank was good for plenty of boisterous merrymaking. I heard someone comment on Scott's dunk tank clothing and it makes me laugh because I have learned that my husband doesn't do anything without the carefully chosen Proper Gear. The dunk tank is no exception : )

Then it was time for the waterballoon toss. Among our many excellent competitors I had lots of time to take mental notes and photos since I didn't even catch the first one.
This picture is worth clicking to see full size.

Next year I shall remember to:
Keep my eye on the waterballoon (this first step is kind of a challenge for me.)
Keep soft bended knees
Put knees together and ankles out
Make a little basket with my hands
Keep arms to my side, but forearms up like a little T-Rex
And, of course, stick out the derrière

The toss was won by the Wiebers. I wouldn't be surprised if they trained for this event since the Lasasters took the title last year. I mean look at their form... It's impressive to say the least.

They took home trophy. Just wait, Wiebers. That bird will be ours again next year.

There were many sugar highs. Our son was playing the opportunist here after the Zahm's star shaped pinata spilled the spoils...

Meanwhile, Mary and Holland hid in a makeshift dunk booth tent to enjoy some goodies...

We finished with some explosive revelry. Here is Scott teaching Trevor what every 2 year old needs to know how to do.

I think Liv says it best...

Praise God for our freedom.

I'm laughing so hard right now...at your documentation....The Gerber's photo...the great action photo of my less-then-ideal catch. Liv's shout-out, Holland and Mary "sneaking", Scott's duds, Lisa's wet rear and all the other eye-level places that the kids were shooting water guns on. I also liked Jonie's collage of face painting. That was such a hit with the kids. You are so funny and creative. The Swan's sure know how to have a good time. We love you guys!
