Payette Lake

Scott and Jason raced the McCall Classic this month and finished well!  Racing the 10 mile, they both beat their time from last year by about 10 minutes which is totally rad.

That race is the perfect excuse to hang out another day or two in McCall and play in the water.  So we did.

Neighborhood Kickball

We haven't played this nearly enough since winter left.  There's no excuse for that.

We did learn on this particular night that sometimes some kids don't like to play with all the rules being strictly enforced.   Maybe next time we'll accidentally miss more of those pop-flies.

Here are some highlights.

How to be a mom and a judge of a bike jumping contest

One day the boys and a friend wanted to do a bike jumping contest over the ramp in the front yard.   They asked me to be the judge.
Well, since there's no conflict of interest there, I said, "Of course."

If you are asked to be this person, you should first write the contestants names.  Backwards.  (I actually did that for safety sake and not to be funny)

Then you should do the scoring in pictures and not numbers.  They will be very confused by this at first, but it's much better than numbers.  Make them up as you go.  Be very excited about them.  Like this:

"Wow.  A Brainy Smurf!! I was not expecting that but he really pulled it off. Nice!"

You'll see here that Rovert first performed at Fuzzy Pickle, then a Burning Bush, Split Lava, and ended with a Lazy Volcano.  Ekaj started out easy with Peas in a Pod, then ended with Corn Teeth-- which was thrilling to watch.  Leoj really killed it with his Fuzzy Banana.

And that's how you do it.

Wood Shop

If you're in the market for "sharp things" and "fire starters", AND you're thirsty.... I know some entrepreneurs who would like to help you out.

Just come to our 'hood and follow the small sign dancers.

The white buckets in front are full of sticks with the bark peeled back for starting campfires and the other bucket has sticks that have been sharpened by the kids. With knives.  Supervised by Scott.  And that's why Scott is so popular.

The boys got special permission to use Scott's walkie talkies so that the sign dancers could communicate to the store when they had a customer coming.

Somehow they managed to get a couple to pay $5 for two cups of ice tea and a firetruck to stop for cold drinks.  The firefighters thought it better that they purchase drinks instead of "firestarters"  because that might not look good.
