Spring Adventuring

We spend a lot of time on the greenbelt.

Here is one of the best adventure trails.  It has bushes, river, logs, and some poison oak to watch out for.

We did a quick 1-hour fishing trip to the pond across the river.  I know all that floaty stuff looks yucky, but it's mostly sticks.  There was a nice old man that helped me get the boys' fishing poles fixed.  He showed me the school of trout and where to catch them.  I was so thankful!

These BEST buds walked to the library.

Beautiful.
My nostrils are not perfectly symmetrical like I expected them to be.  : )

We watched the ponies run.  Click this picture to see it enlarged.  The 5 furlong race was on when I took this panorama and you can see multiple pictures of the same horse.  I love this view.  All of that open space makes me happy and calm.

Watching the horses in the ring between races from the grandstands.
We hiked Seaman's Gulch.  It was warm, busy, and the blue sky and good friends were a gift!

Then we rode our bikes up here.  It's way up there.  It was Trevor's first trip on his 20 in HotRock Specialized mountain bike.  Joel helped Scott pedal from the seat of the Trail-a-bike.

Scott and Joel made some early seat adjustments for Trevor.

The view just gets better and better.  I LOVE the foothills.

Trevor is the toughest kid I know.  It is a hard climb.  Well, Scott counts 5 hard climbs, but they all seem to run together to me.  He made it without too much discouragement and rode down faster than I did.  Scott and I were so amazed.

Isn't that gorgeous? !

The spring rain gave these foothill grasses a lot of color.

Trees are for climbing

Dog Walkin'

We have a small yard.
Scott has pet allergies.
We don't like to pick up poop and our kids aren't old enough to take care of one.
This is the logic we use in not getting a dog.

The boys were both excited all last weekend to spend time with his cousin's new Carin Terrier named Oscar. He stayed with us 4 nights and both the boys were glad get dog kisses all over them each morning.  "He kissed me 6 times on the lips, Mom!"

Trevor, of course, loves dogs .  He tells me that he is going to let his 50 kids (all boys with 1 girl) eat Lucky Charms and all have their own puppy.

Today Trevor picked up two poop piles without complaining (though I could see it was quite disgusting to him.)  I was so impressed.  That kid is growing up so much!

Good messy memories

A couple of weekends ago we were working around the house and letting the boys play with their friends outside in the sprinkler.
At lunch we called them in for lunch, and when we walked back out, the "bike club" had liquified the chalk with water, and and painted themselves : )

Swingin'

Swinging is in the top ten best spring things to do.  So, getting to the park with the cousins just makes it one of the best.

rear window stickers

Nobody else was that excited about the stickers except the cheerleader.

A note in chalk

To Elda:

"ELDa! I <3 p="" you="">I think Trevor drew this is a picture of you smelling a flower.
To elDa  Frum JOel
I helped Joel draw the iguana.  And by 'help' I mean, I did it for him.  He wrote your name.

A dancin' machine

Scott was challenged to a Lip Synching Duel.  I think it was set up to pep up some meetings.

And, I believe, this just shows is one of the top ten reasons I married this guy.

No, I don't mean because he can sort of do the running man or because he wouldn't let me shave off a little bit of eyebrow for him.
I mean because he did for a room FULL of people for very little reward except lifelong Internet fame and embarrassment.
And that's how seriously he takes his cheerfulness : )
