Thought provoking

I had the pleasure of loading Scott's ipod for a long drive to Moab and found some interesting podcasts by Bob Lepine. I've only heard one of nine available, and I liked it.

Mr. Lepine interviews Daniel Radosh who says:
"If you really want to be part of a culture I think in many ways there doesn't need to be a subculture at all. One guy that I talked to says, "The problem with the church is that it's more of a subculture and not enough of a counter-culture. A subculture really accepts most of the values of surrounding society but just puts a different spin on it. You know, we take the same products the rest of the world has and we, you know, put the word Jesus on it. But a counter-culture really challenges the values. Not just the things that a lot of Christians battle about ---you mentioned homosexuality and abortion --- but consumerism and materialism... and a lot of the rest of the country can accept that Christian subculture will go along with mainstream values in ways that are really fundamental..."

In this same interview he talks with a funny guy who calls himself Prodigal Jon. Good stuff there, too. Listen/Download:

That's so interesting. I've been pondering that topic myself lately, as God has been challenging me to a greater degree of holy living.
Prodigal Jon writes the blog "Stuff Christians Like."
So funny! I read it almost everyday.
