That's great to know. I saw one just like that in our garden and I didn't know what kind it was! About the same size, too. I bet the boys loved seeing him!
I read they can bite. I have seen them close and wanted to pick them up, but it's probably not a good idea.

We found him hanging out in the warm sun by the library. I think he's a western wandering garter snake.
