We spent Saturday at Brundage with Papa and Zeesa and it was WET. The rain turned to snow some time in the middle of the night Friday, but the temps were still a bit warm. Which means the snow was sort of concrete-ish. The perfect conditions for snowman making and snowball wars. We had a great day nonetheless and gave ourselves some skiing nicknames.
This is Trevor The Flying Engine
He just doesn't give up. He might eat it 25 times going down, but he gets up every time. He is also compelled to seek out jumps and try them all. Landing is not a detail he is presently concerned with. He is so driven to fly, that even on this difficult day he spent all his time by the trees. I'm sure that the extreme boarding videos he started watching with Daddy as a toddler had nothing to do with it.
This boy amazes me.

I know you can't tell that well, but he even beat up his face catching some edges. This is only an injury a mom would see : ) |
Joel Non-Stop Pop is all about faster and higher. He has a signature arm waving technique that he thinks will make him ski faster. His favorite run at Bogus is the one to the terrain park with big rolling whoops that make him pop into the air like a little wiffle ball. When the jumps are small, he uses his legs to add some height. I don't think he has ever not landed a jump. He prefers staying in control.... even in control of his brother sometimes : ).
This is the full on crying tantrum that ensued when we told Joel it was time to go home and the lifts were closing. |
Scott Pow-pow Pockets is a bit particular about snow. That's what happens when you grow up mere minutes from the ski hill with the best snow in the state. Regardless the conditions he can always seem to find some untouched pocket of fluff. He's fast, makes everything look effortless, and my favorite quality: he is playful and happy.
You can call me Zippi-Dee Bluebird.
I love bluebird days that give me freckles and zipping down fast, (even steep) groomers. The rolling whoops make me go "OOO!!!!" Ahg. Yikes! Wha--aaa. Ummmph." I'm easily scared. The only reason it doesn't show more is because I've been skiing since I was 6. I don't look for the jumps which is good because somebody has to video!
