The bummer part of this is the hours of raking and stuffing bags isn't over until spring when the tree in the front finally loses its leaves. However, many of those leaves usually blow down the street a good distance.
As we watched our trees go bare this year, we discovered some of the secrets they had been hiding this summer. Early in the spring we were vexed by some squirrels who decided to chew up our favorite relaxation station in the backyard--- the hammock. Scott has renamed these big furry creatures "The Stealers of our Joy."
The squirrels had apparently been hiding away these hammock rope pieces in their tree nest. Their nest was a white stringy mess. It must have been very relaxing for them, too.

Holy Cow!!!!!!!!! Next time you better let us help a little more... we only helped with maybe 6 of those! The hours of entertainment for the kids with the leaves almost makes it worth it though doesn't it :-)
OH MY GOODNESS!!! NEVER have I seen such a sight at a regular residential establishment! Let us help you next time!!!! Also, I have a new perspective on squirrels now. Not so cute and furry anymore.
Yes, Sharon, I do look forward to the leaves regardless! It's a fun tradition to keep! I can't say I'll look forward to playing in the leaves when the inevitable happens and we get a dog.
Gee, seeing all those leaves causes me to think of some fun practical jokes play on others....like leaving a bag on their porches at night or maybe in the back of their cars. You know, like having too much zucchini squash from the garden; you think of sinister ways to get rid of it.
Good job in helping to make some nice compost for Boise.
Well, I'm sure many of those late falling leaves flow down to our yard. We're even though because my husband invites the squirrels into our neighborhood with seeds & apple cores. We take great joy in watching them out our windows...apparently at the expense of Swan Joy!!
