Shiny Sun Valley

We celebrated my Dad's 70th Birthday in Sun Valley last weekend. It was so cool (and cold) and so cushy (and priceless)!

It's awesome to be riding the lift with my Dad, husband, and son at one of the nicest places in the world you can choose to ski. We spent a day at Dollar Mountain which is made mostly of novice and intermediate runs with some fun terrain parks built in. As we rode the lift my Dad pointed to the where 60 years ago he broke his leg probably doing some kind of crazy inverted jump. Right, Dad?

I took Trevor up the magic carpet ride and the second time down he yelled to me, "Let Go, please, Mommy!" I don't think that's the last time I'll hear those words. It's so sweet that he asked with a "please" as if he sensed it would be hard for me.

We stayed at the Lodge and enjoyed it's many comforts. Really, I've kind of considered this place as being kind of uppity, but I can totally put that aside as a guest. Along the same lines, my Dad has only known the Lodge as an employee. Back in the day, his dad was the barber and he and his brother Bill worked shining shoes and moving luggage. So, we all had a nice time as appreciating the grandness of the place, their historic halls, and the heated outdoor pool, and especially the company : )

We went to Baldy the next day. They have a shiny new gondola to take you halfway up the mountain in coziness. To look at the mountain from town, it doesn't seem like it's that big, but it is impressive. The view from the top was really stunning. Majestic, snow white views just mesmerize you in every direction. I captured it poorly on a Flip , but here it is anyway:

Scott said to me, "You may not be wearing your helmet properly (for safety)." I keep laughing every time I see pictures of me because I've realized my big melon is definitely too big for the helmet." That's why it doesn't feel right! : )

Trevor demonstrating one of the best ways to get your hands warmed up.

Another cool view.

Mom came for a day and documented some of the first runs with the Flip. Her last day of work was Friday. We are all so happy for her new careers--- Retiree, Cheerleader, Grandma, Traveler, Adventurer.

I am so glad that you were able to do this!! It made me cry to see dad holding Trevor's hands to warm them up. That was one of my fondest memories of skiing with our amazing dad! He is definitely the best ski instructor AND hand warmer!! And mom is the best cheerleader! What a way to celebrate his 70th birthday! I look forward to the day when our families can ski together! I can't wait to see Trevor on the slopes!

What a fantastic time you all had! I love the warm way you write--it tells me you will never forget this trip. And a sweet way to honor someone who means so much to you. Happy Birthday Keri's dad, Trevor's grandpa!

This grandpa sends his admiration for your style in documenting a great time at a great place. My thanks to you and Scott for taking me back to my roots and putting a permanent smile on my face with these great shots and warm memories.
Much love to you and your wonderful family.
