Toffee

Trevor asked for a some coffee the other day and when I complied he celebrated happily....."Yaaayyy toffee!!" And after hopping around excitedly, he sat down to chat with me over his cup of joe. He is rarely hum-drum when it comes to drinking or eating things--- either quite ecstatic or loudly cross about the soup du jour.
Scott and I prefer to warn him and prepare him about spicy or bitter foods, then let him try what spicy and bitter mean.
When it comes to coffee, we have tried to just let him decide for himself that it's an icky brown bitter drink. But this week after taking a sip of his tablespoon of coffee (decaf) he exclaimed with a smile, "It FEELS good!" I think this was an accurate statement for him as he clearly did not gulp down the un-sweetened coffee, but did get what he wanted--- a taste of the drink only mommy and daddy are offered on a daily basis. After he held it for a while he said, "Mommy put it in the fridgerator!" I guess he wanted to savor the feeling later, too.
