An Epic Ride, Pivotal Day, and other everyday stuff

Yesterday we gave Trevor his first chance to really succeed at potty training--- and succeed he did! We are so excited for him and of course excited for us. This was the pivotal day. He wore the smallest dinosaur briefs they make and they are baggy on him. : )

A few weeks ago Wendi let us borrow a trike she found at Kid-to-Kid for $20 and Trevor caught on to pedaling quickly. Then, last weekend, Scott bought the tiniest Radio Flyer bicycle with training wheels from our neighbor, Marty. So, Trevor has been cruising around as much as possible and last night took an epic ride around the block and down to the river --- pedaling himself the whole way (with several stops for puddle jumping and to investigate interesting neighboring yards.) All this and no accidents!

Back at home Scott called me in to see Trevor's new trick, "You've got to see this. No coaching. No provoking." In the front room Trevor was showing Daddy how he could stack up a stool on top of the table, then fall backwards into the bean bag. I had actually been showing him how to do that from the ground several days ago, but I should know better. Trevor likes height. I should make a note to myself to not read any circus type books.

Here are some pictures of Trevor showing Great Gran his tricks. We had the special treat of visiting with Great Gran Elda and Aunt Marsha over the Mother's Day weekend. We celebrated her 90th birthday!

Joel is accelerating just as quickly. He is trying to stand up all the time and is so strong. He gets so very excited and his squeals make all of us smile. We like hearing him talk. I put him in the bath with Trevor tonight and his enthusiasm was a little more than I could handle. He is so strong and wants to arch his back and stand up constantly. I often see him watching his brother with curious eyes. I suspect he will have his first two teeth within a month!

This picture would make a good puzzle. Scott and I thought we'd do a fun, "relaxing" 500 piece puzzle one night last summer (yeah, my idea) and 6 hours after we started we were bug-eyed and frenzied about finishing it. There's just no satisfaction until ALL the pieces are in!

I've learned a few things for next time--- like don't put all the underwear in one laundry load and rubber gloves are a must. Potty training has made me feel like I'm actually earning the title "Mom." Recently, I also learned 3 month olds don't reason and may at any time decide not to take a bottle.

Scott is learning things, too. Like how to change bad storybooks on the fly and stuff and things.

Great update and pics! Thanks for all the efforts. It really is fun for those of us miles away to have these little gems of daily life of Scott/Keri and The Boys.
Good job Trevor with the potty activities. I guess you really are a boy "on-the-go"!

Congratulations Trevor! I always knew it would only take you one try. You are a smart cookie. I suspect, though, that now you will need to invest in a nice pair of pearl riding shorts with a cushy pad for you. Without your diaper, you might need it on those long rides. The Wiebers are proud of your recent accomplishments!
