Profile of a ONE year old boy

Name: Joel (a.k.a. endearingly Joely Joel, Baby Joel, Whiny Pants, Stinker) Age: 1 year!
Height:
35%
Weight: 15%
Dancing Ability: 90%

A few of his favorite things:
  • Baths. I can count on changing my clothes, too, after giving him a bath. He is sooo rambunctious in the water that it's an ordeal. A delightful ordeal ; )
  • Bean Bags. He just falls into the bean bag from the coffee table now, but soon he'll be jumping. He doesn't understand he that he has to use his legs to spring from, so he sort of jumps from the waist up by lifting his shoulders and leaning forward. Scott and I are constantly looking at each other, "Oh, no. Did you just see that?"
  • Music and Moving. This boy can hear a tune from any toy, person, or radio and loves to bop his head or his bottom along to the beat. I was singing the kids' song "Ha ha hallelujah..." in the car and Joel was trying to sing along!

Joel, spontaneous and daring at 1 year, is now able to follow his older brother with some ability to keep up and make a sport of whatever is going on. He seems to be most happy tinkering on one thing and going to the next. His little walk is more brisk by the day. There is nothing slow about that boy. He also has frequent bouts of the giggles which is such a blessing to all of us. We rarely miss a chance to repeat whatever made him giggle in the first place and we all end up laughing ourselves. A while ago he actually fell asleep and continued to giggle on and off for about 8 minutes. I shall cherish the memory!

Joel is soooo affectionate to his Daddy. He doesn't hug anyone like he hugs, pats and cuddles with Scott. When Scott comes home it is fun to watch Joel walk to him with smiles and arms straight up. I can't get enough of it. It is sooo sweet!

With two mobile and dangerous boys, I've got to stay sharp around here! He enjoys turning on my tub faucets, putting my shoes in the kitchen drawers, adding cups to the dishwasher, and pushing a long broom. Whenever the office door is open, he gets down the stair as fast as he can and races to the new lockers Scott re-finished and painted for us this winter. Joel just likes to check them out. I can understand why. Those lockers are pretty cool. They are camouflage green now and we got all our names on them to have a place to put our ski gear.
